About Us

Hickory Springs is dedicated to creating products and components that are as natural, delicate and harmonious with the environment as possible while retaining the highest quality in the furniture, bedding, RV, and automotive industries.

This is the latest environmental push from the Hickory, NC-based manufacturer, which also developed Preserve®, the world's first bio-based foam for the furniture and bedding industries. Preserve uses a soy-based compound to reduce the petrochemicals in the foam-making process. Through the use of this compound, Hickory Springs conserves the equivalent of almost 18,000 barrels of oil per year, or enough energy to power over 1000 homes annually.[1]

While Preserve represents Hickory Springs largest environmental push, it is certainly not the company's first green concern. After 15 years of development, Hickory Springs' six foam plants were among the first in the nation to eliminate the use of CFCs and methylene chloride as auxiliary blowing agents. The company was also an industry leader in the elimination of PBDE fire retardants to address human health concerns in 2004.

This sweeping emphasis on environmental consciousness has become so far-reaching that it touches every aspect of Hickory Springs' production processes and operations. For example, the company recently announced that all its new sales promotion materials will be printed on recycled paper.

These moves are part of Hickory Springs' goal to find new uses for resources and to avoid the waste that has been part of the industry's history. To support that goal, Hickory Springs' owners, officers and managers commit a significant portion of the company's operating budget, manpower and capital to comply with applicable local, state and federal environmental regulations and continuous improvement in environmental corporate stewardship.

Hickory Springs’ corporate headquarters is located in Hickory, North Carolina, where the international, privately held company was first founded in 1944 as a producer of furniture springs. Over the past 64 years, Hickory Springs has grown into one of the nation’s largest integrated manufacturers to the furniture and bedding industries with more than 60 operating facilities throughout the United States. In addition to its core furniture and bedding markets, Hickory Springs serves a growing range of customers in the construction, automotive, packaging, medical, marine and telecommunications industries.
